The weather forecast was pretty good as we set off in search of some Mackerel for bait. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much about but we managed to get about a dozen or so along with a box of frozen squid.
The fishing wasn’t great with a few small coalies, wrasse and pollock on the first few marks. As we moved in shore and got the spinning rods out Alan Buchanan started to pick off some decent sized 3-4lb Pollock but they were few and far between.
We scratched around a few different marks picking up bits and pieces then decided to move to the Spur Dog grounds. We had set a few Mackerel aside for this at the start of the day so we had some bait to have a go at them.
The fishing here was quite good with most anglers landing at least one Spur. Danile Boyle touched for a 8lb fish, which was winning the pool at that point. Marty Buchanan got a 6lb fish to get in the points then Roy McCoy landed a decent 13.5lb fosh to take the pool and top points in the competition.
1st Place Roy McCoy 13.5lb Spur Dog 15 points
2nd Place Daniel Boyle 8lb Spur Dog 10 points
3rd Place Marty Buchanan 6lb Spur Dog 5 points
