Ballycastle 18th July 2021

This was our 3rd trip to Ballycastle this year on board Sean McKays Lady Lynda. 6 members attended

The weather was overcast but the sea was calm enough when we started off. Sean took us to catch some mackerel and once we had enough bait we set off.

We started off trying for some big Spur dogs and after 10 mins Stephen got a nice one of 9.5lb. Unfortunately that was all that was caught and after an hour and a half we decided to move on.

We anchored up in the shallow water for some Pollock and had a few and the spinning rods around 3-4.5lb but these were also scarce enough and after a while decided to try another spot for Conger and Huss.

The Huss were there in numbers with the 1st one caught a nice 10lb fish for Armand followed by a few smaller ones around the 7-8lb mark around the boat. Marty then started to hit these at will with 2 11lb Huss and a 9lb Huss amonst others with a bigger one lost through a hole in the net.

Stephen, and Gerard took Huss around the 7lb mark before Bill pulled in another 10lb fish. Glen touched for one on lines up at the end of the day to ensure we all had one.
