We have been unlucky with the weather on our booked trips with Kiwi Girl, having one trip cancelled last season. Our bad luck continued for this outing with a moderate to strong wind and a big swell. The guys would get out but conditions were far from ideal, and this was reflected in the days catch.
New member John Paul McKillen took the biggest fish of the day with a 2lb 8oz Pollock. Followed by a 2lb fish for Paddy Trainor for 2nd place. Roy McCoy’s 1lb 12oz Pollock took third place in the club competition. The only incident worth noting is when Bill Bannons new rod and reel was pulled over the side when he put it down for a second to sort out a tangle. £350 worth of gear was lost, or so it seemed until Paddy Trainor wound his gear in to find Bills line attached. Much to Bills great relief, his entire outfit was retrieved from Davy Jones locker. We have another trip booked for 30th July with Declan, hopefully our luck will improve.
Ist place John Mckillen 2lb 8oz Pollock 15 points
2nd place Paddy Trainor 2lb Pollock 10 points
3rd place Roy McCoy 1lb 12oz Pollock 5 points
