Kincasslagh 13th May 2018
First trip of the season on board Paul McGonagles boat Caitlin Marie. It looked to be a good day for it with the sun out and not a lot of wind.
We stopped off for Mackerel which unfortunately were few and far between. After trying for about 45 mins we decided to head on out to try a few marks.
The fishing was patchy throughout the day which is unusual for Kincasslagh. Few coalfish to about 3lb and a few small Pollock were coming in every once in a while.
We tried a few other marks, the best of which being in quite close. A few of the guys had some ragworm so the Wrasse were coming in thick and fast for them. Daniel Boyle seemed to be amounst those at every drop.
Marty Buchanan took out the spinning rod and hooked up a 5lb Pollock which at that point was the biggest of the day. Shortly afterwards John McKillen lost a fish at the boat, dropped straight down again and hooked into a nice 7lb 4oz Ling which proved to be the biggest of the day.
A few more decent sized Pollock to 3-4lbs arrived soon after so te guys had some fish to bring home.
All in all it wasn't a great days fishing but good fun none the less. Maybe a bit too early for the good fishing around this mark but we'll be back a few more times throughout the year.
